Animationnnnnnnnnn

hmmmm.. i do not know what to write about...
so may be i won't...
ok not really...
I just saw Madagascar for the nth time...whoa i think the movie is awesum!!!!
one thing going on in my head
"I like to move it,move it
I like to move it, move it"

by King Julien....

but my fav ch by are the penguins, who r equivalent to CIA agents..!
and...who can forget Melmin...voiceover done by David Schimmer, I thought the character of Melmin's of totally like Ross's ...very academic...when the foursome land on the island, he actually gives a quick analysis of the island according to him in a minute!...
People who loved the penguins must watch a 15 minute christmas spl...get it from sumwhere...really funny stuff
talking abt more animaton Ice age II is going to release tomorrow...I am looking fwd to it....esp how crack the squirrel deals with it...and guess whtz the movie called
Ice Age II-The MELTDOWN!!!
My fav animation flicks are Finding Nemo, Ice Age I, Madagascar...I also enjoyed The Prince Of Egypt, Shrek I, Road to El Dorado, and yes.. Titan AE....!

End ?

oh i thought those days were over...
i thought he was gone
i made myself believe it was all gone

he says something,
does something else,

like a toy at ur disposal
like clay which can be shaped the way you want

at times...i think itz not love

or i am in the love with the idea of
being in love??

romanticizing every move you make...
just beacuse i want to

they say read between the lines
but i guess i read when there is nothing there...

the complexity of the situation kills me within
over and over and over and over again

itz banging in my head

got to find a way out
outta this maze
dead ends dont take you anywhere
they dont even take you to an end!

the purpose of this "love"
I promise, i will figure out soon

Murphy's laws

Ok i read this book...
MURPHY'S LAW COMPLETE
All the reasons why everything goes wrong
by Arthur Bloch

itz full of stuff you ever wanted to know, or atleast close to
it has liners like
"the severity of the itch is inversely propotional to the reach"
and
"At any given event, people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last"

pretty funny huh...

But they r true most of the times...a day after reading a book, i went for Being Cyrus with a few friends, and we got corner seats, and we arrived last!....it happens all the time..just observe

the book is filled with laws and more laws applicable in various fields..like leadership, love, household, engg, medicine..etc etc...

Some of my favourites are

Lieberman's law:
Everybody lies; but it doesn't matter.since nobody listens.

Laws of applied terror:
1.when reviewing your notesbefore an exam, the most important ones will be illegible.
2. 80% of the exam will be based on the one lecture you missed about the one book you didn't read.

Moser's law of spectator sports:
Exciting plays occur only while you are watching the scoreboard or out buying a hotdog

Athena's rule of driving courtesy:
If you allow someone to get in front of you, either:
a) the car in front of you will be the last one over a railroad crossing, and you will be stuck waiing for a long, slow moving train; or
b)you both will have the same destination, and the other car will get the last parking place

Law of Life's highway:
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

Drew's law of highway biology:
The first bug to hit a clean windshield lands directly in front of your eyes

Sinteto's first law of consumerism:
A 60 day warranty guarantees that the product will self-destruct on the 61st day

Kitchen Law:
The more expensive the gadget, the less often you will use it

Hamilton's rule of cleaning glassware:
The spot you are scrubbing is always on the other side

corollary :
If the spot is on the inside, you won't be able to reach it.

Ballance's law of Relativity:
How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.

Ruby's principle of close encounters:
The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

...so that were a few good ones...
go ahead and read the book...makes u look at trivial things of everyday life wid a lil amazement.

reasons --why not to get pregnant....

hello everybody
having a baby is a lovely thing, you have someone of your own....itz your own part and blahblahblah.....
but do you know the flipside...the things you cannot do when u get pregnant----u probably never thought about it seriously..but hey thnk about it....

1. You cannot go Scuba-diving or Bungee jumping , what if you get a cheap deal only in those nine months...and what if you suffer from uterus troubles and are forbidden to go bungee or scuba after delivery???what what what..!!!

2. There is morning sickness, afternoon sickness, evening sickness, mid morning sickess, mid afternoon sickness....midnight sickess...basically you are sick all the freaking time!

3. You get stretch marks in various places on your body, which do not go away...so basically you end up looking ugly if you ever happen to wear those clothes again!

4. You cannot have sex after the 7th month...! and in the seven months you have sex...i think itz quite eeeks, cuz you freaking have your own baby inside....and you conviniently wanna insert that thing???...ya right...some kind of paedophile...!

5. Your feet are sore, your back huuurts..mind you...if you suffer from any back. tailbone problems..you have had it...!

6. You cannot see your own feet!

7. Wierd people come and try to touch your belly..thinking it'll be sum sort of pleasure..ya right...keep your hands off me and my belly...ummm i mean baby!

8. You have to sit in front of a unkown person----(the gynac d-uh) and strip and etc etc etc.

9. You gotta eat for 2 or more persons, drink for 2 or more persons, breathe for 2 or more persons...!!

10. And not to forget all the nagging....eat this, drink this....kesar khane se bacha gora hota hai etc etc.

11. You cant sleep on your stomach

12.
You cant drink a little also.....

13. You cant travel i rickshaws , esp roads full of potholes, cant sit on bikes, even buses, and everyone is not an ambani to afford a merc for a smooth ride!

14. Risking your career...after maternity leave things are not always the same!

15. Your taste buds get screwed , no matter what you eat. it all tastes the same!

16. You got to wear wierd loose clothes which are useles afterwards.

17. Last but not the least, the labour pains!!!!

ok well....these were few reasons...
now, as people may assume, and assume wrong, I am NOT against having a baby, not at all, was talking to a few girlfriends that day when this topic came up.

With inputs from Prerna Shetty and Ambika Nadkarni

On and on

to wander in circles,
take on life,
talking to the walls

waiting for that call
or even a knock on the door

seems so long already
but it was just yesterday

folk and spoon lying on the table
the television on for hours
the unturned page of the book
the withered flower in the vase
the dusted mantle...........................

Francais???

Francais????
yea baby....je parle a peu de francias....en fact, j'aime le francais..
so if u thought the entire post is gonna be french....too bad u can now understand something rather than wasting ur time reading roman alphabets which do not necessarity make a lot of sense.
When I first heard my french ma'm speaking this language, well I thought something was seriously wrong with the french, to come up with such a language. The ch- becum sh- most of the times, this is very important keep this in mind, you have to learn to spit if you wanna learn french. It basically means that you need produce that wierd sound for lots of words like "crois" "prendre"....
Something funny about this language, it literally translates from english for words which do not have a french name...for example: bread is "pain" and bakery is "boulangerie" but for new age words like potato..what do the french do??? they call it "pomme de terre" literally meaning apple of the earth...pretty cool huh?
All in all itz a cool language, insults do not sound like insults, in fact they sound sweeter....romance will gain an all new level completely.....! ah...
But anyway, now sum thing which may put u off, everything unde the sun has a gender, one of pals would probably recollect the phrase"futrez ton parapluie" without knowing the gender of parapluie or an umbrella, but the sentence itself says the gender.
another thing, there are some 8 freaking tenses for every new verb you learn, you probably may like the regular ones but hate the irregular ones for being ummmm....so irregular...
bottomline I love French.....and cant wait to learn some more of it..whenver that is...
au revoir...

This Day...Last Year....

The heat is on...
It's only march, and itz freaking hot!
nothing much to do...
I have been listenin to "The Scientist" by Coldplay on loop. It is an amazing song, it is like a melody to which you can swing to on..and on and on and on...and mind that guitar in the end, it's terrific!

ever wondered what were you doing this day last year???I was on a road trip across SA, heading towards Cape town. In fact, Holi last year was spent there. It was quite a memorable day. We saw the white sands and freaked out, it was just awesome! but the wierd part was that no one was in the water, we had heard about the shark incidents in the waters of the Atlantic, but come on this wouldn't let the surfers keep away from their second home. I kept wondering why....WHY there aint anybody in the water, I decided to find out myself.
Very boldly I marched towards the beach. took my footwear off and almost reached where the next wave was about to hit my feet. I was smiling ear to ear, then it strikes and.....and....my expression freezes on my face. The water is FREAKING COLD!!yeah, for all those who think playing ice-in-ur-clothes is a good idea, well come here and find out....my feet went numb, red, blue.....(cold water---due to winter approaching, SA in southern hemisphere..)
now i knew why people were outside enjoying their sunbath, and not inside the waters....I saw this guy giving me a smile which said" yeah yeah, play more in the water..ha ha"
yea man this gave me some idea what temperatures seals, penguins live in.
But I didn't give in, the cold couldn't dampen my spirits, I went ahead...quite a distance in the water, until I couldn't feel a thing. My mom and I were daring enough to stay there for more than 10 mins, that is a different thing that when we got out of the iced sea we had to sit in the sun for 15 minutes to regain our senses.
But hey it's not every day that one comes across a beach with almost ice cold water...
That's what I did last year on this day...
Wonder if it possible to recount every single day of last year, or even last week.....without keeping a diary....
lemme know if u remember what any of u did last year this day....
just a thought....

The day after....

The day after will be of fear and pain,
Though this may not settle the dust,
but a few souls will be at peace.

Wounds will itch for a lot longer,
bruises will burn for some more time,
but it needs to be done to gain the lost pride,

the lava is viscous enough,
to char the infested wood,
the clock is ticking,
the planets are revolving,
the time is passing,

Fear those who need to,
because last wishes do not always come through.

WASTED

P.S So here goes...don't discontinue after the first few lines...I agree first 2 verses very cliched...haha

I looked into your eyes...deep and soulful....
the touch of your skin...
the feel of your hand...

days when it rained enough to drown me...
when it snowed enough to freeze me...

pain pleasure resistance rebel
everything that I could experience...
days went by
the feelings deep inside, which needed a way
never came up,

they never will,
they are not supposed to,
everything has a meaning...
my love for you is stuck in a moment...
it refuses to move ....it refuses to give up...

I wish I never felt what I feel..
throw it down...
hit rock bottom...
never come back again..
all my efforts which have gone in vain...

All the time wasted..
All the tears cried...
All the emotions which are stuck...
All the patience tolerance pain...

One day..It will be different
Is it today? was it yesterday?
or is it gonna be tomorrow?
I m waitin..
till I get it out and get it over with...
Crush
it
like a
Cigarette under
my
feet.
Or
Tear apart
like
my
Contact lenses.
Or
Break it
like
a
Beer Bottle.

BLOG FOG

These vacations seem to have put everyone in the bloggin mode...

I am terribly bored....really man...studies have gone into the dumps....haven't even done a single chapter from anywhere...tried openin the psychology textbook-some dude called Lahe...closed the book after havin a look at the index page....glad to see everyone bloggin....almost 10 bloggers from class now...myself, MJ, Ballan, Bhan, Chintan, Lavanya, Mihir,Whiny, Yash, Niket,Sushan, Abhi, Chyrag, Rhutu.....and last but not the least Nisha ma'am.whoa quite a bit of people there...

some b'days cumin up....so hopefully some parties cumin up too...if not now atleast after the xams....MARKETING PRESENTATIONS PPL!! I have completely forgotten about it...sem is not over...40 marks still on hold...

Was watchin VH1 --Fabulous Life...I m sure everyone has seen that show atleast once. Dude..the amount of money they spend...and HOW they spend...interesting to know...probably the worst I have seen was of Paris Hilton, cuz she has so much of it she dusnt know how to spend it....and one of the best would be Mel Gibson, The Cast Of Friends, JLo, David and Victoria Beckham, Leonardo and Gizelle....cool stuff
I have also been glued to Discovery Travel and Living , the reality shows telecasted on this channel simply rock....! I am a regular viewer of Project Runaway with Heidi Klum, it is about fashion designing..deadlines, work pressure, all the goof ups, Material World is an interesting one on interrior designing, and Monster House on revamping an entire house...
But my fav show by far remains Globe Trekker, they have shown most beautiful places on the planet, and the backpackers's way, which is the way i want to see different places in the world. The trekker episode on Istanbul, Turkey, on Nairobi, Kenya, then the on Bora Bora Islands near Australia, Central China, Ethopia. Hot Spots is another series which i found very very interesting, this week, they showed all the places in Paris, which are hardly known by common people but are of great value. For example, there is a book store called Shakespear company or someting like that, it offers readers a free place to stay durin the night, you just have to work for the store..like dustin the books, vacuumin the place, how cool is that???
There was a spl series on top 50 places to go---the Taj Mahal was on no 7....no. 3 was Disneyland in Florida, no.2 was Great Barrier Reef in Australia and no.1 was The Grand Canyon in U.S.A.
I surely do wish to go these places one day, travelling is my passion...really...
Even in India, one must visit the Himalayas, the drive to Manali is a spectacular, with river Biyas or Vyas to accompany you...the temples in the South tell stories in their way....
lots of places to go, lots of things to learn.......

D for Depression

"but my dreams....they aren't as empty
as my conscience seems to be
I have hours, but only lonely
My love is vengeance
...that's never free"

What makes 70% songwriters write about depression??....notice some time....3 out of 5 songs will be negative .
masterpieces are said to be a creation out of utter sadness.....many artists have agreed with it..the darker side gives birth to works that one wouldn't concieve in a usual frame of mind...
Is sadness so powerful? does it drive us to boundaries of desparation?? I know the simplest answer to this could be art as a vent to frustration, but why is it easier to absorb melancholy than to reflect happiness?
I wonder just sitting and thinking on the couch, bed or even now staring at my monitor, what does it achieve....half of the times, when I start thinkin I end up on something totally irrelevant, absolutely not related to what I wanted to conclude....

the stuff above was written later on thats why there you may experience no link between the 2 paras

this is what i ACTUALLY intended to write when I started the post..

The song has been STUCK in my head from morning....a track my Limp Bizkit....there are loads of songs which define sadness, depression, and there are tracks which just push you into that amazingly temporarily non recoverable state of mind.........I remember once I was a lil' sad about something and I switched on my player, Nirvana was playing "dumb"
the lyrics are something like this:
"I am not like them
but I can pretend
the sun is gone
but I have a llight
the day is done
but i m having fun

I think I m dumb...I think I m dumb.........................I think I m dumb I think I m dumb"

well a word of advice ..never NEVER listen to Nirvana when you are even close to depression....
and the following one:

"Things have never been so swell

I have never failed to feel

Paiiiiiiiiiiiin...Paaaaiiiinnnnnnn..Paaaaiiin..Paaaaiiiinnnnn

You know you are right"

this is just a part of the verse....listen to the whole thing and you will end up feelin depressed....

Classic Cinema

I was watching this movie 2day...called kala patthar.....interesting flick...i do not know how many of you are into classic bollywood, but there are quite a few movies, which are not only well made but full package entertainment. This movie deals with a disaster which takes place in a mine. the story revolves around the lead characters,
Vijay(Amitabh Bachchan), an ex-naval officer, who is court martialled and dismissed from the navy, he suffers everyday with in himself, with the burden of a man who escaped from a sinking ship and let the passengers die, thus he welcomes any danger, and does not care to put his life at stake when help is required to rescue the mine workers.
Ravi(Shashi Kapoor) is the engineer i charge of the doomed project, he tries to alert the management about the forthcoming danger, but his warnings are ignored by the greedy management.he joins hands with Vijay to save lives in the mines.
Mangal(Shatrughan Sinha) is a runaway convict, who finds shelter in the coal mines from the law, his humane side is revealed when he actively involves himself in the rescue operation.
What is interesting is the chemistry build up before the actual disaster takes place, Mangal and Vijay have sworn t kill each others, due to ego clashes, whereas Ravi always tries to tone them down
Another notable point in the movie is the importance of the actresses.During that era, actresses were not given substantial roles except big heroines, but in this movie, even after being a multi starrer, Rakhi (who plays a doctor, the sole doctor in the village) manages to play a vital role in the movie, she is also the romantic interest of Vijay, the chemistry is romantic in the most subtle yet noticeable . Neetu Singh plays a girl, who sells bangles, toys in the village, she also happens to be the love for Mangal. and Parveen Bobby plays an intruding journalist who falls in love with Ravi.
All in all, i would say that this movie is 100% entertainment. The mine disaster is the highlight of the movie, but comes towards the end, it adds a dash of thrill for the audience.
Go ahead, catch it sometime on television.
other movies which i loved were...Woh Kaun Thi, Gumnaam, Farar, Benaam, Itefaaq, Mera Saaya and lots more...
lemme kn0w any of you are interested in these oldies....
cheers... Posted by Picasa

somethin significant??

and all that you wanted never came through...
though some of it is standing in front of you...

why can't you see, oh! Why can't you see?
it's right there, somewhere near you...

grab a moment, or let it all go...
till you realise what a mess you got into....

the sun never sets, nor does it rise
it's always us, who assume till the end of time..

the stars don't shine
the moon aint't that white
the red aint deep
this poem aint complete
without a real fight...

This poem is written when i was thinkin of certain people, hope they realise what the msg is..

Feb 11, 2006

A great evening

on the 9th of february myself and a few school pals headed for a gig at St. Francis Insitute, borivilli
the line up was cool..there was xenon(which we missed cuz we arrived late, infact every1 did), then there was PDV-Pin drop violence, who came on stage...screamed their lungs out...head banged and left, i did not understand a single word they played....i know i aint into death metal, but they were total nonsense, i have heard better death metal bands perform.
Then came Vayu, now Ravi Iyer the lead vocalist, is good at what he does, but ends up cracking really really sad jokes on the stage, sans the jokes, he'll do a better job.Vayu was good, played some acoustic in the beginging, then went on to play Pink Floyd, yes the hit was played--BRICK IN THE WALL, and all dopers fav COMFORTABLY NUMB, they played it extremely well, the guitarist was close to perfection, and so was the remaining band....then they also played PEARL JAM-ALIVE,i love that track and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
and finally came the band i always wait for---ZERO, i have a soft corner for the lead vocalist---RAJEEV, man he is so cute...how muchever he tries to look like a rockstar, with the rough and tough look, he just cannot, cuz he ends up lookin cuter...hehe
they played well...infact they were awesome, ROXANNE -a POLICE track originally was covered by them, and boy o boy they played it well, then they played a maroon 5 track0 harder to breathe n their famous PSP...and Finally -BANANA BOAT....!!!yay the HARRY BELAFONTE track....man it was soooo cool..but the only prob was we left before psp started...we saw it from the wall...made we wonder why we paid for the ticktes, cud have watched the entire show frm there...!
but all in all, the show was cool, and plus i was i good company, school pals -and a Jnr Collge friend...
ZERO was great...they r my fav Indian Band...

placing displacement

what the hell does the title mean????.....u may find out in the followin post or u may not...

basically related to life....and er..who else...but my life...

moving around could be fun..especially if it is between countries.....but it is sad too, happened with me...
leaving south africa wasnt a big deal in april 2005, but now it does sometimes...
i m sure all of us look back in the past...wonder what you have done, or in case of testing times.."what the hell i am doing here??"
i do that too a lot of times.....
so anyway i was going through some snaps the other day....and it struck me that i may not see some of them again..!! yes, it wierd... people who are not great friends, but with whom u used to hang out at some point in ur college life.....and all of a sudden u r sent back from where you came from....not that i wasn't happy to cum back...but it is simply wierd...
chek this
u enter a new country.... new people...different races...different culture...
you want to learn...but u r apprehensive..the country is labelled as "unsafe".....cant travel alone..cant explore alone...
u step into a new educational system.....which is in fact pretty good....
you begin to learn new methods....you are suddenly exposed to variety of subjects which you never knew existed....you are excited....entralled with your new life..in the process ....cultural metamorphosis is taking place.....you begin to adapt yourself....as much as you can with in your limits....you find friends....like any other teen ager change groups ..try mingling with new people....
by this time, you know all the radio shows by heart, which RJ featured on which show....u know the news channels....the entertainment industry a lil....you get used to the weather...which is extremely unpredictable.....windy most of the times....can rain on any given evening...
you also sort of get an accent....a lil tho...it jus makes you a lil more understandable...you celebrate Diwali and Id with them...
then....
you come back to your homeland...only to know that you will have to shift permanently in a few months time.....
happy or sad?
elated or depressed?
good or bad?
right or wrong?
well...
i was extremely happy when i came back....i still am..with my friends....college...what i am doing....
but i find it wierd...
that one year of my life seems to have vanished i thin air, i can't get over it at times...
that's why those who know me a lil bit would know my constant reference to SA, Durban etc...
i genuinely miss that place a lot, but sometimes...
maybe i jus needed to bid farewell properly to the country.....not in such a hurry....and for the same reason i will go back...some day i will...
Thanks to South Africa ...i did learn a lot from that country...about cultures, races, dignity, humanity....it just changed the way i think overall.
..i will visit again ...FIFA 2010 seems to be the best time!!!
anyway...
just wrote what was banging in my head from a few days.

FAST FOOD???....think again...

Fast Food

I would to talk on this----Fastfood..

i read a book called "The Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlossler, i read this book last year, some time around october, when i was about to give my semester exams, i must say it was a very interesting read....it gave an insight about what goes inside the burger you consume in any McDonalds, it is something which we do not pay attention in everyday life, but is something so big that can save humans in poverty stricken countries from starvation.

wondering how??? well, when i heard first about this, i was like "yea, right, what can a stupid cheese burger do?"

i'll tell you, what Eric Schlossler told me...

a burger/pizza/hotdogs at a fast food outlet is the extreme form of processed food one can consume. The amount of oil=money which is used to PREPARE this food can be used for lot of other meaningful purposes in poor countries, and the funny part is that this food is the unhealthy to the core!!!What does it contain??? Preservatives....yes..junk..yes.. and some more junk...
the fries which taste sooooooo good, do you actually know how old are they?..since when have they been kept in the freezer???..In India, at home we are forbidden to eat food which has been in the fridge for more than 2 days, and here we happily eat food which have been there in the freeze without questiong any thing, funny huh??

the book also tells us what scientists do in a secretly located lab in some remote part of the States. They use their intellect in creating essences, flavours, which are added to various food items, for example, various chemicals are used to create the tantilzing flavour of strawberries, when the food item does not even contain strawberries.

there is the history of burgers in the united states, how a couple started selling them in a small town, and then in drive-in systems in the 1950s....followed by McDonalds, KFC, Burger King etc etc. how they grew and started spreading the "american culture" across the globe. What was interesting to see that European countries like Germany were more open to the fast food culture, owing to their scarred history. The youth in Germany were ready to embrace any new culture, which gave them a new identity, you can call this "americanization of the world"....

Fast Food nation also tells us how fast food chains have changed the culture, economy, workforce and landscape in many countries....

The politics of food, which have been i full swing in African countries is an outcome of this fastfood mania in a huge way....as i mentioned above the burger is equivalent to the oil=energy, whichcan be used for better things.

Then it explains the hazardous consequences of fast fooding, the rate of obesity has shot up around the world. If one has to analyse the fat in a chicken patties present in a KFC burger, that much amount of fat is suppose to be consumed over a week, but children consuming it on a regular basis is just deadly....

what caught my attention, is the chapter" why do the fries taste so good"....explains the technology behind the fries....

believe it or not, but eric schlosser spent an entire month surviving on McDonald burgers, and not not only he fell sick...but also gained a lot of unwanted weight....all part of his research though!

My Prof. Harold Witt was an interesting guy...

about whom i'll post in the next blog...

as for now...try getting your hands on this book....will make you think how a burger can change some one's life in some other part of the world.

cheers..
