THE SAME OLD STORY

So basically I am online throughout the day...have loads to study but JUST not able to put my brains into it...
really sucks
A friend and I were talking about fotos, like what they represent...and what could they start or end...very interesting...in fact, all such interesting topics crop up just before exams....
VH1 will play the BEST music..even Mtv who otherwise play average stuff will start showing exclusives and otha things which will result in us not leavin the television, all good docus will be telecasted on Nat Geo or Discovery or History etc etc.
ALL of a sudden we feel watching new is tres important!..not one channel but like 2 or 4...BBC, CNN,NDTV...so on and so forth....talking on the fone is like breathing...ALL THE TIME.
ORKUTTING has become another nuisance...ALMOST everyone is chirkutting and asking each other the same Q "KITNA HUA" and likes...no one who is relly studyin..and who is really chirkutting!!..
PLANS pre exams and post exams are already being made....the only diff is PRE exam plans includes the equal amount of timepass as post but with a tinu wini guilt factor....!
WE all need to study....KTs are not far off....and the distance between I and Kts is directly proportional to the input I put in RIGHT NOW.

SO basically all BMMITES get off BLOGGER, ORKUT, GMAIL, and all sorts of google affiliated accounts...and drag ur ass to the study table!!!!

hehe
:P

The Concept Of "HIM"

The concept of "HIM"

Oh its all about "him",

His words melt me down
His eyes so soulful

His arms so protective
His touch so perfect

"He" is some one who can lift ur spirits
"He" can break your heart into a zillion pieces

All is good
but it's not "Him"

She was looking for "him"
I was looking for "him"

"he" was there but he got lost in the crowd

After sometime I spot "him" again

Oh My Good Lord ! He's not the same !

Should I keep looking for "him"?

Or Just let "HIM"

The Way I Do

I feel like I am in another medium
Things are just going on and on and on around me

I am there, but not really there...

If only you could peep into my world

You'd probably know whats it like

Why I percieve the way I do

and Why I resolve the way I do

and Why I complicate the way I do

and Why I dissolve the way I do.

ZING IS BACK

17th and 19th september were amazing days!...
17th I wouldnt like to mention why
but 19th ..I did smething nice..atleast I think itz nice...I donated Blood!!! Man! I was so scared...u know all those situations where you go with absolute josh and then popat ho jata hai...ahem well something similar happened...I kinda assumed taking an injection and donating blood is somewhat similar! yea right gurl...no way...for injections there is this tini wini needle which into ur arm/butt, but here ...itz not even close to t of tini...they insert this fat thing into ur arm and connect it to the bag , where ur blood is collected...I freaked out lookin at that needle! Obviously chickening out wasn't what I intended, but I WAS scared...thanks to my friend Priya, without her moral support I wouldn't have done this amazing thing, it does make me feel good.
Though I kinda felt dizzy after tht but thts pretty normal...

I said thank you to thye organiser(a middle aged sweet looking man)

he said," today, we are taking away the right of saying thank you from you.

Thank you."

wow, that kinda made my day.

passing thought

"Catch me If you can"

thats what my mind tells me....

and I just cannot keep up with the pace.

Talent

A fear has creeped deep into my mind...
it's scary, especially when you looka round...
there are just too many who know
there are just too many who own
and there are way too many who can acquire

It is worrying me increasingly with every passing day,

"WHAT AM I GONNA DO?"

Yes for some people. everything is decided. For some they are good in more than one things, so they have an option, and more than one option...

some are born genius...

and some are like ...

Me.

There is too much confusion, too many thoughts. too many options open...too much I want to do,
but the fact it whether if I'll be able to do even 10% of it.

I wish I don't bury my talent like in Milton's creation...cuz I am afraid I will be punished later for hiding it somewhere I can't find it.

I want to uitlise it..I really want to...but just as soon as I know what it is!

generally speaking

NEW POST
DASHBOARD

all of em seem new words....just an indication to the fact tht I haven't blogged frm ages...
sumtimes it was the laptop...well most of the times it is...it works when it likes...kinda like me...byt anyway....and I am terribly bored of writing posts which say "i m back!" or "long time no post"

bloody

so I have a public relations presentation tomorrow and we are sort of prepared, which is like cool.

and I have seen some really good movies lately, like Hotel Rwanda and Schindler's List, both based on different types of genocide, in different times, at different places, but yet so simlilar, the massacre is so horrendous, these movie will haunt one for quite sumtime after the first viewing.

anyway, read a junior's blog...and got inspired to update mine....!...thanks dude.herez his url

http://messanddestruction.blogspot.com

so that's it...and I wont say tht I will update soon....cuz I may not...

BACK!

I am back! yea baby...
ok..I am aware that I must have lost a lot of readers, some have probably stopped visiting cuz of lack of updates, but I promise I will try and be regular.

Lots of things have happened in the past month.

1.Entry to second year
2.Floods
3.Passed a french exam
4.Bandh
5.Blasts
6.Freshers party
7.Made new friends

ok that's about it.

and believe it or not, I missed blogging terribily, I don't like express myself through writing a daily diary, or journal, hence blogging seems to be a very good way to the same.

The course is getting competitive by the day. Everyone is trying to prove something everyday, class mates are getting agitated over small things, new friends are being made, old pals are getting to know secrets, groups are getting intensified and the project submissions are around the corner.

Just felt like writing the above, no particular reason.

I love my class , and I hate my class, after a few days I will feel like strangling each one of them, slapping all of them. Then, that feeling will go away, and I will again start thinking 'ah! nice people'. It's a cycle. It doesn't stop.

It is a wonder if even 4 people in the class agree on something.

Enough about my class. Now over to something else.

JACK SPARROW

YEs people, hez the one! The ultimate Pirate, Johnny Depp has done it again! Dead man's chest is one of the most satisfying sequels! Really, hats off to the movie makers!

Ever wondered about the origin of the idea-Pirates of the carribbean??I recently read somewhere, that the movie is based on a theme park ride in Disneyland. Wow, how cool is that, they actually made an entire story, out of an amusement park ride!

That's it for now.

Will update regularly.

Cheers all.

Duniya jhol hai

This write up is inspired by something which ocurred yesterday, more like something I hrd abt....
It is really funny how MOST people don't have anything much to do in life and start gossiping about other people.
Infact, their life revolves around it.."she did this"..."she did that"...etc etc...
God! give yourself a break people...go find some constructive activity for yourself rather than demolishing a person's image.
90% of the time the information is false, and even if it is true it is garnished with the most exquisite type of mirch masala so that when the news reaches the next person's ear it is made sure that it is not the same as the previous person heard.
People are creative, they create new situation in an already existing circumstance, and toss it to the next person, whoever it might be.
People are jealous...this entire summer of 2006 is a learning lesson for me which I will never forget. They just can't see you happy, everybody on the surface will smile, greet you cordially, and all that nonsense, but it is JUST SUPERFICIAL. There is not even 0.00001% truth i it. Inside they will be burning with jealousy, hoping that something soud go wrong in that person's life, hoping that things don't work out. They can't look at some one and be happy, or even let it go, everybody is looking for an opportunity to pull others down.Wherever it is, school, college, your colony, building, office ...wherever!
You are always under scrutiny....being analysed by almost everyone, so that you commit one small mistake, and BOOM!
Small errors get converted into something so HUGE that you probably wouldn't have imagined.
This is my opinion of the world , it's people currently, and it does not look like it will change in near future.
I am sure everybody knew this fact but when it hits you certain times, you just get disillusioned.

SAVING??? ya right...

Saw X men- the last stand..
okay this is not a movie review...I just wanna say cool flick..I hadnt seen the first 2 parts..but then it was cool
The best mutant was the chick who could go through walls!!! It was just fascinating...
hehe

anyway...So on my way back home...This pal of mine and I decide to save money(after spending 100 bux on a ticket+ 45 bux on coke+45 bux on latte) yea after tht I decide to save money! so we take a bus to our destination.
The bus was CROWDED....and it came after a long wait...so there were a lotta ppl..
now for some reason the conductor did not come behind to give us a ticket...and we thought we will take it when appreoching the last stop, by then the congestion will decrease...
SO...the last stop ws there, and by this time the conductor was in the front section of the bus, so when we were getting down, we went upto the conductor and asked him for the ticket( cuz we din intend to travel free of cost)..but the conductor sez"abhi fine bharo"
I was like "wtf!"
So was my pal...
so we got down....argued with tht guy..who was yelling at us for not buying the tickets and claiming that the fine is 200 bux but I am only fining you for 15 bux...!
"ya right" was the look exchanged between I and my friend.
Well, the argument went for about 5 more mins, I tried by best to convice him that WE DID not intend to travel FREE OF COST, and that genuinely the conductor was far away..
but alas, who can argue with them, I thought, damn lets just pay this and get away asap...
So he takes our names , writes it on that fine reciept..and hands it to us...

ALL rickwalas were staring at us...sum wht this on their mind" ya right, travel freely", or more like just plain "hahaha"

WE take the next rick available and leave for our destination....

So there goes my effort to save some money...

Hey but I have a ticket...! did sumthin illegal....guess I can say that.

-----------warning: itz totally random and on the spot------

So this is what I came up with
itz not a rhyme and not a lymmeric

(tht sux already)

too much time,
too less mind,
too much boredom,
too less of mine

but he wasnt there

she always wanted to be there

but itz better to be left, when you know you are right...

There is a change..a big one

I always have some one

the day begins, the day ends,

but with you my friend...

there is no room to pretend..

MARRY ME

Met a few Skool pals today...
was a lot of fun...
This friend of mine...I met him after 4 years..I arrived late first...had to apologize a lot:p
then we were just discussin things ..like what have u been upto types...
During the convo...I sed "stupid" for sumthin...and he sez thats not stupid , u used the wrong word...My reply was " no thats not stupid itz funny stupid"...
My pal suggested we through my defininations again of stupid, cute, nice ,sweet etc etc
turns out to be
that I have subsets for every adjective, which people do not understand...
anyway..
something different..When I m in bombay, there are ways, strange guyz come and hit on you...In Lagos, they also had a way...
If they wanted to talk/flirt/tease etc etc the only thing they'll ask is:
"Will You marry me"

Now thats what i call FORWARD!
:P
seriously, on my way back from Atlas Island, the guy who was helping us to get into the boat asked me " Are you married? Would you marry me?"

a guy outside the parking lot of a departmental store yelled "Marry Me"

and finally when I was leavin Nigeria, at the Lagos Airport, after my immigration is over and the security gaurd is checking my bag, he casually asks looking at me
"So you are an Indian?"
I say "yes"
"You live here?"
I say"No , just visiting family."
"Are you married?"
I smile and say " No"
"Would you marry a Nigerian?"
I say "No."
"Why" he asks"
"ummm..well ..Just"
I smile..
He smiles...

Whoa...
I must say this one was quite polite!!!

Visitors can rent these for a day and relax in em.

Ok now I gotta tell you guyz this...

on our way to this beach. A man in uniform stopped us, on the road.My dad asked him what was the matter, he sez"Sir, I want my weekend chop"

weekend chop basically refers to chai paani equivalent here. So turns out to be the Cop officially stops most of the cars on that road and mints 50 naira(18 Rs) more each car.

And he peeps inside looks at my mum and I and sez"I like Chinese people, my next weekend will be in China".

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!

okay, so we look Chinese....that's news to me.

BlAh bLaH

I saw "Humko Deewana Kar gaye"
Don't even ask me whyyy
cuz I m still asking myself
damn.....what an utter waste of time...My parents wanted to watch a movie..so did I cuz we hadn't been to a theatre here...but unfortunately this was the movie running in the evening show...
Anyway, so this si the second most pathetic movie I have seen, first one being Home Delivery...man a torture I must say
anyway...do I use that word too often...hmmm
so tom I m going for a better cinematic experience by watchin Ice age II :the meltdown.
It rained here like crazy today, was really pleasant.

Just a thought: How many mins/hours do we spend waiting in a day on an average?
I usually wait for a bus, then a train, then for sum friends, then for the lecture to get over, then for the sandwich to be made by the coll sandwichwallah or a sezwan dosa which I must say is a delicacy of many things offered outside my college, then I wait for the same means of transport.
Or I just wait for my fav tv show -LOST...hey I wait a lot...what about u guyz..??

Shows to look out for on tv and if you can download : Everybody Hates Chris, based on Chris Rock's life. Lost season II, Grey's anatomy, CSI:NEW YORK, Project Runway and yeah...JOEY!!!
ofcourse this is meant for people who have nothing to do...that is...moi!

cheers.

Pics from the Atlas Island

Here are a few pics which I took from the boat.
a lil bit of Lagos skyline on the right.

Somewhere in the middle of Equatorial Atlantic

I had an awesome day today!!!!Did the most amazing thing...
myself, my family and a few other families went to Atlas Beach, Lagos.
The journey was quite interesting, one has to take a boat from a suburb called Victoria Island, the boat ride is a lot of fun, lasts around 10 to 15 mins.
Enter Atlas beach, it's an Island actually, enter Atlas Island, and how does one disembark from the boat, simple..jump into the water!...yep u read correctly, there is no place where you can anchor the boat, so we had to get off on the beach...
First glance, WOW....there were shacks all around...most of them occupied, we ran towards an empty one and conquered it.
changed and jumped into the clean bluish green water...
coming to the most amazing thing...
u guys seen a surfing board, d-uh you have! This board I was swimming on, is similar, but you have to lie flat on your stomach and try going in front...and this is not a surfing board, I think it's called a floating board...
I was lying on my back, the sky staring at my face, soaking up the atlantic sun,and the board floating in tune with the waves, after sumtime I realised that I was in deep waters, and I was drifting away from the shore..then all of a sudden this HUGE wave flips my board ...and there I was, thrown into the water!....it was so awesome, I found my breath and started swimming to the shore...
Later on , I was lying on the sand, thats a different thing that i ended up getting sun burns cuz I forgot to apply sunscreen amidst all the excitement...
MAN... I love beaches and this Equatorial Island blew my mind!
will post more pics soon.
cheers.

Day out in Lagos

Ruhie's day out in Lagos..

So I finally got to go out....see the city a little bit,
went to a local market called "Lekki" ...was fun shopping and looking at strange faces who stared back with you with same or more amount of strangeness.
One word which pops in my head when i was going through the streets of Nigeria-SURVIVAL
The locals-i.e Nigerians do almost everything to earn a few crumbs of everyday bread.
This is evident by a phenomenon called "GO SLOW", itz nothing but the usual traffic jam, which is present all the time on the roads, there are more go slows than bombay...a 5 minute drive will take you 30 mins during the peak hours. Now in these go slows, one can find a shopping paradise...hows?..well just look through the ur window, and you'll find dozens of people outside roaming around with various articles in their hands...the variety is really vast, it includes bags, calculators, batteries, softdrinks, cds, calling cards, fruits, vegetables, manicure-pedicure set, razors, dustbins, phones, their covers, carpets!! ...rice, table mats....and too many things to write down...
This is something I have never seen....seriously...it's fascinating, cuz I am not used to it, and these vendors . they are out regardless of the weather conditions, it's raining, or burning sun...and mind you, the items they sell are genuine...tested and tried by my mom! and I must say they are quite a hit...wonder wht'll happen if this starts happening in India...
I promise I'll post some pics soon(once I take em';)
hey but I must admit...the streets are full of people...unlike South Africa, where you would have to walk for 10 mins to actually find somebody! I aint joking here, on a sunday morning you'll probably have to walk for half an hour...yeah so back to the point..people on the streets, it's quite evident why Lagos is the second most populated city in Africa after Johannesburg.
Okadas---is another speciality, it's a motorbike taxi, yeah sounds cool n all, but hey one cannot gaurantee a safe ride on it, because the drivers don't wear any helmet, and in simple words it's just not safe, there are loads of Okadas in the city, this is due to the presence of Go Slows on the streets...the Okadas can easily find their way out or take short cuts.
And did I mention the vegetable vendors know a few names of vegetables in hindi!..yea man...they actually say "bhindi" and "aaloo" etc.
and when I went shopping I happen to tell my mum"accha hai" for a piece of clothing and the shopkeeper says" accha hai na" ...phew...you never know who can speak ur language here!
The above is thanx to the Indians who are omnipresent...they live quite separately here, all of knw most of em type of thingie...but it's nice to see known faces in a crowd
Thats it for now...will keep posting...
cheers.

Of airports, stewards and a new place

wokay people of the world....oh ok...visitors of this blog.....
guess where I am...ah okie...people wud knw....
I m in Lagos, Nigeria...!

oh ya btw interesting things to share which ocurred on board... no i did NOT have a hot co-passenger...no...boohoo...
but went via Dubai...! man awesum place to pass time oh hell yeah!...wanted to blog from there...saw this big samsung cubicle ...but then i saw the screen in front of me screaming blah blah flight boarding..for Lagos..and i thought either I could blog and say hi to ya'll and wait for the dubai authorities to find me blogging and eventually deport me back to India, or I could just board my flight...so I did the latter..smart thing to do huh? Sometimes I really surprise myself...hehehe...okie in a mad mood...ya so I was saying on board....Emirates has some excellent in flight entertainment...oh yes...close to 150 movies to pick from...music albums...etc etc ..I saw " In her shoes" and "everybody hates chris" man....that sitcom is awesome...one of the best sitcoms i have seen...catch it if you can...
and the FOOD..yea baby the food roxxx...every 45 mins they r bthere"would you like to have
tho i had some champagne;)

the stewards were cute...

damn cute...

did I say cute...

ok i think i'll stop now...

Lagos-first impression....itz different d-uh...all African people around...place is very much like bombay when it comes to weather...hot and humid...roads are also like bombay..which wud b bad...and yea left hand frive , but my dad said and I noticed it soon that no matter what hand drive they overtake from any side! left, right and centre...all sies ppl does that ring a bell???....
anyway...there is major electricity crisis here...generator is on for 8 hrs...so that means everything works at home...the pc, fridge,tv,ac everything works on it...

so now I m goin...to watch F1...san marino, Imola...micheal schumacher got the P1 ..damn...Alonso is P5 ..lets see what he does to get the P1 ....or he better do it...
cheers guyz...
njoy urselves...

Animationnnnnnnnnn

hmmmm.. i do not know what to write about...
so may be i won't...
ok not really...
I just saw Madagascar for the nth time...whoa i think the movie is awesum!!!!
one thing going on in my head
"I like to move it,move it
I like to move it, move it"

by King Julien....

but my fav ch by are the penguins, who r equivalent to CIA agents..!
and...who can forget Melmin...voiceover done by David Schimmer, I thought the character of Melmin's of totally like Ross's ...very academic...when the foursome land on the island, he actually gives a quick analysis of the island according to him in a minute!...
People who loved the penguins must watch a 15 minute christmas spl...get it from sumwhere...really funny stuff
talking abt more animaton Ice age II is going to release tomorrow...I am looking fwd to it....esp how crack the squirrel deals with it...and guess whtz the movie called
Ice Age II-The MELTDOWN!!!
My fav animation flicks are Finding Nemo, Ice Age I, Madagascar...I also enjoyed The Prince Of Egypt, Shrek I, Road to El Dorado, and yes.. Titan AE....!

End ?

oh i thought those days were over...
i thought he was gone
i made myself believe it was all gone

he says something,
does something else,

like a toy at ur disposal
like clay which can be shaped the way you want

at times...i think itz not love

or i am in the love with the idea of
being in love??

romanticizing every move you make...
just beacuse i want to

they say read between the lines
but i guess i read when there is nothing there...

the complexity of the situation kills me within
over and over and over and over again

itz banging in my head

got to find a way out
outta this maze
dead ends dont take you anywhere
they dont even take you to an end!

the purpose of this "love"
I promise, i will figure out soon

Murphy's laws

Ok i read this book...
MURPHY'S LAW COMPLETE
All the reasons why everything goes wrong
by Arthur Bloch

itz full of stuff you ever wanted to know, or atleast close to
it has liners like
"the severity of the itch is inversely propotional to the reach"
and
"At any given event, people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last"

pretty funny huh...

But they r true most of the times...a day after reading a book, i went for Being Cyrus with a few friends, and we got corner seats, and we arrived last!....it happens all the time..just observe

the book is filled with laws and more laws applicable in various fields..like leadership, love, household, engg, medicine..etc etc...

Some of my favourites are

Lieberman's law:
Everybody lies; but it doesn't matter.since nobody listens.

Laws of applied terror:
1.when reviewing your notesbefore an exam, the most important ones will be illegible.
2. 80% of the exam will be based on the one lecture you missed about the one book you didn't read.

Moser's law of spectator sports:
Exciting plays occur only while you are watching the scoreboard or out buying a hotdog

Athena's rule of driving courtesy:
If you allow someone to get in front of you, either:
a) the car in front of you will be the last one over a railroad crossing, and you will be stuck waiing for a long, slow moving train; or
b)you both will have the same destination, and the other car will get the last parking place

Law of Life's highway:
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

Drew's law of highway biology:
The first bug to hit a clean windshield lands directly in front of your eyes

Sinteto's first law of consumerism:
A 60 day warranty guarantees that the product will self-destruct on the 61st day

Kitchen Law:
The more expensive the gadget, the less often you will use it

Hamilton's rule of cleaning glassware:
The spot you are scrubbing is always on the other side

corollary :
If the spot is on the inside, you won't be able to reach it.

Ballance's law of Relativity:
How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.

Ruby's principle of close encounters:
The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

...so that were a few good ones...
go ahead and read the book...makes u look at trivial things of everyday life wid a lil amazement.

reasons --why not to get pregnant....

hello everybody
having a baby is a lovely thing, you have someone of your own....itz your own part and blahblahblah.....
but do you know the flipside...the things you cannot do when u get pregnant----u probably never thought about it seriously..but hey thnk about it....

1. You cannot go Scuba-diving or Bungee jumping , what if you get a cheap deal only in those nine months...and what if you suffer from uterus troubles and are forbidden to go bungee or scuba after delivery???what what what..!!!

2. There is morning sickness, afternoon sickness, evening sickness, mid morning sickess, mid afternoon sickness....midnight sickess...basically you are sick all the freaking time!

3. You get stretch marks in various places on your body, which do not go away...so basically you end up looking ugly if you ever happen to wear those clothes again!

4. You cannot have sex after the 7th month...! and in the seven months you have sex...i think itz quite eeeks, cuz you freaking have your own baby inside....and you conviniently wanna insert that thing???...ya right...some kind of paedophile...!

5. Your feet are sore, your back huuurts..mind you...if you suffer from any back. tailbone problems..you have had it...!

6. You cannot see your own feet!

7. Wierd people come and try to touch your belly..thinking it'll be sum sort of pleasure..ya right...keep your hands off me and my belly...ummm i mean baby!

8. You have to sit in front of a unkown person----(the gynac d-uh) and strip and etc etc etc.

9. You gotta eat for 2 or more persons, drink for 2 or more persons, breathe for 2 or more persons...!!

10. And not to forget all the nagging....eat this, drink this....kesar khane se bacha gora hota hai etc etc.

11. You cant sleep on your stomach

12.
You cant drink a little also.....

13. You cant travel i rickshaws , esp roads full of potholes, cant sit on bikes, even buses, and everyone is not an ambani to afford a merc for a smooth ride!

14. Risking your career...after maternity leave things are not always the same!

15. Your taste buds get screwed , no matter what you eat. it all tastes the same!

16. You got to wear wierd loose clothes which are useles afterwards.

17. Last but not the least, the labour pains!!!!

ok well....these were few reasons...
now, as people may assume, and assume wrong, I am NOT against having a baby, not at all, was talking to a few girlfriends that day when this topic came up.

On and on

to wander in circles,
take on life,
talking to the walls

waiting for that call
or even a knock on the door

seems so long already
but it was just yesterday

folk and spoon lying on the table
the television on for hours
the unturned page of the book
the withered flower in the vase
the dusted mantle...........................

Francais???

Francais????
yea baby....je parle a peu de francias....en fact, j'aime le francais..
so if u thought the entire post is gonna be french....too bad u can now understand something rather than wasting ur time reading roman alphabets which do not necessarity make a lot of sense.
When I first heard my french ma'm speaking this language, well I thought something was seriously wrong with the french, to come up with such a language. The ch- becum sh- most of the times, this is very important keep this in mind, you have to learn to spit if you wanna learn french. It basically means that you need produce that wierd sound for lots of words like "crois" "prendre"....
Something funny about this language, it literally translates from english for words which do not have a french name...for example: bread is "pain" and bakery is "boulangerie" but for new age words like potato..what do the french do??? they call it "pomme de terre" literally meaning apple of the earth...pretty cool huh?
All in all itz a cool language, insults do not sound like insults, in fact they sound sweeter....romance will gain an all new level completely.....! ah...
But anyway, now sum thing which may put u off, everything unde the sun has a gender, one of pals would probably recollect the phrase"futrez ton parapluie" without knowing the gender of parapluie or an umbrella, but the sentence itself says the gender.
another thing, there are some 8 freaking tenses for every new verb you learn, you probably may like the regular ones but hate the irregular ones for being ummmm....so irregular...
bottomline I love French.....and cant wait to learn some more of it..whenver that is...
au revoir...

This Day...Last Year....

The heat is on...
It's only march, and itz freaking hot!
nothing much to do...
I have been listenin to "The Scientist" by Coldplay on loop. It is an amazing song, it is like a melody to which you can swing to on..and on and on and on...and mind that guitar in the end, it's terrific!

ever wondered what were you doing this day last year???I was on a road trip across SA, heading towards Cape town. In fact, Holi last year was spent there. It was quite a memorable day. We saw the white sands and freaked out, it was just awesome! but the wierd part was that no one was in the water, we had heard about the shark incidents in the waters of the Atlantic, but come on this wouldn't let the surfers keep away from their second home. I kept wondering why....WHY there aint anybody in the water, I decided to find out myself.
Very boldly I marched towards the beach. took my footwear off and almost reached where the next wave was about to hit my feet. I was smiling ear to ear, then it strikes and.....and....my expression freezes on my face. The water is FREAKING COLD!!yeah, for all those who think playing ice-in-ur-clothes is a good idea, well come here and find out....my feet went numb, red, blue.....(cold water---due to winter approaching, SA in southern hemisphere..)
now i knew why people were outside enjoying their sunbath, and not inside the waters....I saw this guy giving me a smile which said" yeah yeah, play more in the water..ha ha"
yea man this gave me some idea what temperatures seals, penguins live in.
But I didn't give in, the cold couldn't dampen my spirits, I went ahead...quite a distance in the water, until I couldn't feel a thing. My mom and I were daring enough to stay there for more than 10 mins, that is a different thing that when we got out of the iced sea we had to sit in the sun for 15 minutes to regain our senses.
But hey it's not every day that one comes across a beach with almost ice cold water...
That's what I did last year on this day...
Wonder if it possible to recount every single day of last year, or even last week.....without keeping a diary....
lemme know if u remember what any of u did last year this day....
just a thought....

The day after....

The day after will be of fear and pain,
Though this may not settle the dust,
but a few souls will be at peace.

Wounds will itch for a lot longer,
bruises will burn for some more time,
but it needs to be done to gain the lost pride,

the lava is viscous enough,
to char the infested wood,
the clock is ticking,
the planets are revolving,
the time is passing,

Fear those who need to,
because last wishes do not always come through.

WASTED

P.S So here goes...don't discontinue after the first few lines...I agree first 2 verses very cliched...haha

I looked into your eyes...deep and soulful....
the touch of your skin...
the feel of your hand...

days when it rained enough to drown me...
when it snowed enough to freeze me...

pain pleasure resistance rebel
everything that I could experience...
days went by
the feelings deep inside, which needed a way
never came up,

they never will,
they are not supposed to,
everything has a meaning...
my love for you is stuck in a moment...
it refuses to move ....it refuses to give up...

I wish I never felt what I feel..
throw it down...
hit rock bottom...
never come back again..
all my efforts which have gone in vain...

All the time wasted..
All the tears cried...
All the emotions which are stuck...
All the patience tolerance pain...

One day..It will be different
Is it today? was it yesterday?
or is it gonna be tomorrow?
I m waitin..
till I get it out and get it over with...
Crush
it
like a
Cigarette under
my
feet.
Or
Tear apart
like
my
Contact lenses.
Or
Break it
like
a
Beer Bottle.

BLOG FOG

These vacations seem to have put everyone in the bloggin mode...

I am terribly bored....really man...studies have gone into the dumps....haven't even done a single chapter from anywhere...tried openin the psychology textbook-some dude called Lahe...closed the book after havin a look at the index page....glad to see everyone bloggin....almost 10 bloggers from class now...myself, MJ, Ballan, Bhan, Chintan, Lavanya, Mihir,Whiny, Yash, Niket,Sushan, Abhi, Chyrag, Rhutu.....and last but not the least Nisha ma'am.whoa quite a bit of people there...

some b'days cumin up....so hopefully some parties cumin up too...if not now atleast after the xams....MARKETING PRESENTATIONS PPL!! I have completely forgotten about it...sem is not over...40 marks still on hold...

Was watchin VH1 --Fabulous Life...I m sure everyone has seen that show atleast once. Dude..the amount of money they spend...and HOW they spend...interesting to know...probably the worst I have seen was of Paris Hilton, cuz she has so much of it she dusnt know how to spend it....and one of the best would be Mel Gibson, The Cast Of Friends, JLo, David and Victoria Beckham, Leonardo and Gizelle....cool stuff
I have also been glued to Discovery Travel and Living , the reality shows telecasted on this channel simply rock....! I am a regular viewer of Project Runaway with Heidi Klum, it is about fashion designing..deadlines, work pressure, all the goof ups, Material World is an interesting one on interrior designing, and Monster House on revamping an entire house...
But my fav show by far remains Globe Trekker, they have shown most beautiful places on the planet, and the backpackers's way, which is the way i want to see different places in the world. The trekker episode on Istanbul, Turkey, on Nairobi, Kenya, then the on Bora Bora Islands near Australia, Central China, Ethopia. Hot Spots is another series which i found very very interesting, this week, they showed all the places in Paris, which are hardly known by common people but are of great value. For example, there is a book store called Shakespear company or someting like that, it offers readers a free place to stay durin the night, you just have to work for the store..like dustin the books, vacuumin the place, how cool is that???
There was a spl series on top 50 places to go---the Taj Mahal was on no 7....no. 3 was Disneyland in Florida, no.2 was Great Barrier Reef in Australia and no.1 was The Grand Canyon in U.S.A.
I surely do wish to go these places one day, travelling is my passion...really...
Even in India, one must visit the Himalayas, the drive to Manali is a spectacular, with river Biyas or Vyas to accompany you...the temples in the South tell stories in their way....
lots of places to go, lots of things to learn.......

D for Depression

"but my dreams....they aren't as empty
as my conscience seems to be
I have hours, but only lonely
My love is vengeance
...that's never free"

What makes 70% songwriters write about depression??....notice some time....3 out of 5 songs will be negative .
masterpieces are said to be a creation out of utter sadness.....many artists have agreed with it..the darker side gives birth to works that one wouldn't concieve in a usual frame of mind...
Is sadness so powerful? does it drive us to boundaries of desparation?? I know the simplest answer to this could be art as a vent to frustration, but why is it easier to absorb melancholy than to reflect happiness?
I wonder just sitting and thinking on the couch, bed or even now staring at my monitor, what does it achieve....half of the times, when I start thinkin I end up on something totally irrelevant, absolutely not related to what I wanted to conclude....

the stuff above was written later on thats why there you may experience no link between the 2 paras

this is what i ACTUALLY intended to write when I started the post..

The song has been STUCK in my head from morning....a track my Limp Bizkit....there are loads of songs which define sadness, depression, and there are tracks which just push you into that amazingly temporarily non recoverable state of mind.........I remember once I was a lil' sad about something and I switched on my player, Nirvana was playing "dumb"
the lyrics are something like this:
"I am not like them
but I can pretend
the sun is gone
but I have a llight
the day is done
but i m having fun

I think I m dumb...I think I m dumb.........................I think I m dumb I think I m dumb"

well a word of advice ..never NEVER listen to Nirvana when you are even close to depression....
and the following one:

"Things have never been so swell

I have never failed to feel

Paiiiiiiiiiiiin...Paaaaiiiinnnnnnn..Paaaaiiin..Paaaaiiiinnnnn

You know you are right"

this is just a part of the verse....listen to the whole thing and you will end up feelin depressed....

Classic Cinema

I was watching this movie 2day...called kala patthar.....interesting flick...i do not know how many of you are into classic bollywood, but there are quite a few movies, which are not only well made but full package entertainment. This movie deals with a disaster which takes place in a mine. the story revolves around the lead characters,
Vijay(Amitabh Bachchan), an ex-naval officer, who is court martialled and dismissed from the navy, he suffers everyday with in himself, with the burden of a man who escaped from a sinking ship and let the passengers die, thus he welcomes any danger, and does not care to put his life at stake when help is required to rescue the mine workers.
Ravi(Shashi Kapoor) is the engineer i charge of the doomed project, he tries to alert the management about the forthcoming danger, but his warnings are ignored by the greedy management.he joins hands with Vijay to save lives in the mines.
Mangal(Shatrughan Sinha) is a runaway convict, who finds shelter in the coal mines from the law, his humane side is revealed when he actively involves himself in the rescue operation.
What is interesting is the chemistry build up before the actual disaster takes place, Mangal and Vijay have sworn t kill each others, due to ego clashes, whereas Ravi always tries to tone them down
Another notable point in the movie is the importance of the actresses.During that era, actresses were not given substantial roles except big heroines, but in this movie, even after being a multi starrer, Rakhi (who plays a doctor, the sole doctor in the village) manages to play a vital role in the movie, she is also the romantic interest of Vijay, the chemistry is romantic in the most subtle yet noticeable . Neetu Singh plays a girl, who sells bangles, toys in the village, she also happens to be the love for Mangal. and Parveen Bobby plays an intruding journalist who falls in love with Ravi.
All in all, i would say that this movie is 100% entertainment. The mine disaster is the highlight of the movie, but comes towards the end, it adds a dash of thrill for the audience.
Go ahead, catch it sometime on television.
other movies which i loved were...Woh Kaun Thi, Gumnaam, Farar, Benaam, Itefaaq, Mera Saaya and lots more...
lemme kn0w any of you are interested in these oldies....
cheers... Posted by Picasa

somethin significant??

and all that you wanted never came through...
though some of it is standing in front of you...

why can't you see, oh! Why can't you see?
it's right there, somewhere near you...

grab a moment, or let it all go...
till you realise what a mess you got into....

the sun never sets, nor does it rise
it's always us, who assume till the end of time..

the stars don't shine
the moon aint't that white
the red aint deep
this poem aint complete
without a real fight...

This poem is written when i was thinkin of certain people, hope they realise what the msg is..

A great evening

on the 9th of february myself and a few school pals headed for a gig at St. Francis Insitute, borivilli
the line up was cool..there was xenon(which we missed cuz we arrived late, infact every1 did), then there was PDV-Pin drop violence, who came on stage...screamed their lungs out...head banged and left, i did not understand a single word they played....i know i aint into death metal, but they were total nonsense, i have heard better death metal bands perform.
Then came Vayu, now Ravi Iyer the lead vocalist, is good at what he does, but ends up cracking really really sad jokes on the stage, sans the jokes, he'll do a better job.Vayu was good, played some acoustic in the beginging, then went on to play Pink Floyd, yes the hit was played--BRICK IN THE WALL, and all dopers fav COMFORTABLY NUMB, they played it extremely well, the guitarist was close to perfection, and so was the remaining band....then they also played PEARL JAM-ALIVE,i love that track and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
and finally came the band i always wait for---ZERO, i have a soft corner for the lead vocalist---RAJEEV, man he is so cute...how muchever he tries to look like a rockstar, with the rough and tough look, he just cannot, cuz he ends up lookin cuter...hehe
they played well...infact they were awesome, ROXANNE -a POLICE track originally was covered by them, and boy o boy they played it well, then they played a maroon 5 track0 harder to breathe n their famous PSP...and Finally -BANANA BOAT....!!!yay the HARRY BELAFONTE track....man it was soooo cool..but the only prob was we left before psp started...we saw it from the wall...made we wonder why we paid for the ticktes, cud have watched the entire show frm there...!
but all in all, the show was cool, and plus i was i good company, school pals -and a Jnr Collge friend...
ZERO was great...they r my fav Indian Band...

placing displacement

what the hell does the title mean????.....u may find out in the followin post or u may not...

basically related to life....and er..who else...but my life...

moving around could be fun..especially if it is between countries.....but it is sad too, happened with me...
leaving south africa wasnt a big deal in april 2005, but now it does sometimes...
i m sure all of us look back in the past...wonder what you have done, or in case of testing times.."what the hell i am doing here??"
i do that too a lot of times.....
so anyway i was going through some snaps the other day....and it struck me that i may not see some of them again..!! yes, it wierd... people who are not great friends, but with whom u used to hang out at some point in ur college life.....and all of a sudden u r sent back from where you came from....not that i wasn't happy to cum back...but it is simply wierd...
chek this
u enter a new country.... new people...different races...different culture...
you want to learn...but u r apprehensive..the country is labelled as "unsafe".....cant travel alone..cant explore alone...
u step into a new educational system.....which is in fact pretty good....
you begin to learn new methods....you are suddenly exposed to variety of subjects which you never knew existed....you are excited....entralled with your new life..in the process ....cultural metamorphosis is taking place.....you begin to adapt yourself....as much as you can with in your limits....you find friends....like any other teen ager change groups ..try mingling with new people....
by this time, you know all the radio shows by heart, which RJ featured on which show....u know the news channels....the entertainment industry a lil....you get used to the weather...which is extremely unpredictable.....windy most of the times....can rain on any given evening...
you also sort of get an accent....a lil tho...it jus makes you a lil more understandable...you celebrate Diwali and Id with them...
then....
you come back to your homeland...only to know that you will have to shift permanently in a few months time.....
happy or sad?
elated or depressed?
good or bad?
right or wrong?
well...
i was extremely happy when i came back....i still am..with my friends....college...what i am doing....
but i find it wierd...
that one year of my life seems to have vanished i thin air, i can't get over it at times...
that's why those who know me a lil bit would know my constant reference to SA, Durban etc...
i genuinely miss that place a lot, but sometimes...
maybe i jus needed to bid farewell properly to the country.....not in such a hurry....and for the same reason i will go back...some day i will...
Thanks to South Africa ...i did learn a lot from that country...about cultures, races, dignity, humanity....it just changed the way i think overall.
..i will visit again ...FIFA 2010 seems to be the best time!!!
anyway...
just wrote what was banging in my head from a few days.

FAST FOOD???....think again...

Fast Food

I would to talk on this----Fastfood..

i read a book called "The Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlossler, i read this book last year, some time around october, when i was about to give my semester exams, i must say it was a very interesting read....it gave an insight about what goes inside the burger you consume in any McDonalds, it is something which we do not pay attention in everyday life, but is something so big that can save humans in poverty stricken countries from starvation.

wondering how??? well, when i heard first about this, i was like "yea, right, what can a stupid cheese burger do?"

i'll tell you, what Eric Schlossler told me...

a burger/pizza/hotdogs at a fast food outlet is the extreme form of processed food one can consume. The amount of oil=money which is used to PREPARE this food can be used for lot of other meaningful purposes in poor countries, and the funny part is that this food is the unhealthy to the core!!!What does it contain??? Preservatives....yes..junk..yes.. and some more junk...
the fries which taste sooooooo good, do you actually know how old are they?..since when have they been kept in the freezer???..In India, at home we are forbidden to eat food which has been in the fridge for more than 2 days, and here we happily eat food which have been there in the freeze without questiong any thing, funny huh??

the book also tells us what scientists do in a secretly located lab in some remote part of the States. They use their intellect in creating essences, flavours, which are added to various food items, for example, various chemicals are used to create the tantilzing flavour of strawberries, when the food item does not even contain strawberries.

there is the history of burgers in the united states, how a couple started selling them in a small town, and then in drive-in systems in the 1950s....followed by McDonalds, KFC, Burger King etc etc. how they grew and started spreading the "american culture" across the globe. What was interesting to see that European countries like Germany were more open to the fast food culture, owing to their scarred history. The youth in Germany were ready to embrace any new culture, which gave them a new identity, you can call this "americanization of the world"....

Fast Food nation also tells us how fast food chains have changed the culture, economy, workforce and landscape in many countries....

The politics of food, which have been i full swing in African countries is an outcome of this fastfood mania in a huge way....as i mentioned above the burger is equivalent to the oil=energy, whichcan be used for better things.

Then it explains the hazardous consequences of fast fooding, the rate of obesity has shot up around the world. If one has to analyse the fat in a chicken patties present in a KFC burger, that much amount of fat is suppose to be consumed over a week, but children consuming it on a regular basis is just deadly....

what caught my attention, is the chapter" why do the fries taste so good"....explains the technology behind the fries....

believe it or not, but eric schlosser spent an entire month surviving on McDonald burgers, and not not only he fell sick...but also gained a lot of unwanted weight....all part of his research though!

My Prof. Harold Witt was an interesting guy...

about whom i'll post in the next blog...

as for now...try getting your hands on this book....will make you think how a burger can change some one's life in some other part of the world.

cheers..

V-e-G

I'll write on something absolutely irrelevant...

on being a vegetarian... veggies may carry on, non veggies may or may not..or what the heck..you might read and abuse the writer of this blog...on a stupidity acc to them called"vegetariansim"

so is it too hard to be a veggie?
seein ppl eat poor lil hen,
and dead fishie(think findin nemo)

bad poem bad rhyme....anyway..back to vegetarianism....my mom was talking about nigeria in general, she happened to mention that they get no milk, only milk powder. i was kinda surprised. when i asked her why is it so, i got a bizarre reply, she said that all the cows are utilised for beef!!!...well all of em'??..and she said "yes." Made me think how much meat people eat there, like there are no freakin cows left to milk, because they eat ALL of em'!
damn them.
most non vegetarians have tol' me"you are stooopid" or " you miss out on sooooo much"
well just a thought, how can i miss something i haven't had, might sound stupid but then ..whatever....
for the above mentioned reason, i do not miss anything in my meals, which were formerly parts of mobile creatures.
Like we can't survive on plants...
Most ppl are gonna freak on tht sentence...
The best reactions i heard on i being vegeterian were something like this"man, what do you eat??" " a few fried vegetables??" or " there aren't enough veggies to eat" yea right as if all the species of animals have been tasted by non veggies...
Question--what do cows drink??? MILK???lolol (guess nigeria wudn't even have tht)

i saw this sorta funny flick once"beautician and the beast" where the actress couldn't cut the chicken because she got attached to it....and latta she feeds it "chicken food"....

ok anyway all that was random stuff in my head which i just typed out.

A famous vegetarian...BRYAN ADAMS.....PHOEBE FROM FRIENDS.....
there are chances of you living longer if you are a veggie...though not if you load it with drinking , smoking, doping etc etc.

There are chances that you are not re born as a chicken at rainbow farms, a cow in nigeria, a snake in china, a monkey in japan( monkey's brain a delicacy there) a goat during Id, or a fishie in sum sea if you are a vegetarian.

Hmmmm... now that i have finished typing lotsa random stuff and have no other excuse to avoid my psychology presentation, i'll just leave...

guess what song is blaring in my ipod.....BRING ME TO LIFE......hehehehehe..

cheers;)

and what do you call this?

A story..

once a boy met a girl in a beautiful city. they became friends, got along very well. went out for coffee, movies. basically had a blast. they were from different racial backgrounds. they waited for each other at bus stops.....
sang their favourite songs especially the U2 track " you got stuck in a moment, and you can't get out of it". they spoke on the phone often.
christmas arrived..

the boy was all excited for it...

the girl was excited for the boy...

they went for a flee market just before christmas....looked around. just before they were about to leave, it started raining...all of a sudden the girl says " hey, i'll be right back, wait right here"
the boy is puzzled" where are you going? my mom is cuming to pick us up"
the girl says" wait for 5 mins"
she runs inside...
she is frantically looking for a stall..
she is looking looking.. and looking..glancing at her watch every now and then...
she is still looking..
she finally finds it..
there it is! a stall selling small decorations for the christmas tree...
she looks at various things....in the end..she gets what she wants...she spots a very cute blue giraffe made out of blue beads...it was not xactly a christmas hanging , it was a keychain..but it was perfect...she grabs it..pays the man and speeds away in the direction pointing -exit.
the boy is still waiting outside...
"oh great, u r back, anyway my mother is still not here"
"oh, cool", she says , almost out of breath."hey, this is for you", she takes the keychain and puts it in his palm.
"oh...really.." sort of out of words..
it was still raining...
"but you didn't have to"he says
"it's christmas, and i wanted to give you something, and i won't be there on christmas...so i thought"
"Thanks a lot!!!...i love it..it perfectly describes me....tall...cute.."
"..and wierd"she says...
they both laugh...
give each other a big long hug..
meanwhile..the boy's mother arrives....
she drops the girl home....at the girl's door...she says," so i'll see you in a few months"
"yes, sure..i'll miss you loads"
"i'll miss you too"
she kissed him on the cheek....
"merry christmas", she says
"merry christmas to you too, and happy journey..."
"you too, enjoy yourself"
"bye"
"bye".

The girl goes to her hometown. The boy goes to the states for 6 months on a student exchange program.
The boy returns after 6 months...but the girl doesn't she stays back in her hometown due to the circumstances.
That beautiful december evening, when it was raining, and the weather was at it's best, was their last meeting. Two best friends who did not meet each other after that, and did not know that was their last meeting.
for some wierd reason, they do not even have a picture together..

The boy is Zygmunt Szpak, a south african, staying in durban, but a Polish by birth and culture.
The girl is... well....it's me...

OF MISSING CONCERTS

So Bryan Adams is coming to town again. i remember not going for the one which was held in 2004, oh, on that note i also remember not going for the one before that and the one before that. i suddenly recollect not going to the rolling stones concert, and the savage garden concert....and the boyzone concert ....the probably the best one held in town00the micheal jackson concert!! u can call me a concert bunker...rather pathetic term i know...but that's the most creative thing i cud come up with especially after talking about missing concerts..

continuing with the concert skipping spree...i am about to miss the COLDPLAY concert..yes yes..we are talking about CHRIS martin here..n the band which has taken over mind of millions of people, a band which got me acquainted to a genre called-adult alternative rock!...i am going to miss their concert...well since i am whining about it, i might as well tell everyone how is this exactly going to occur. i am going to the states around 13th april, i was suppose to reach there on 30th march so that i can attend the COLDPLAY concert on 6th april to be held in Philedelphia, but as it turns out to be i cannot take off before 7th april.....n anyone interested to know why..why why?????? i will just say it...the US consulate did not gimme an appointment before 3rd...well it;s not even the consulate's fault, my sister was about to take an appointment on 8th march...guess what happened...the electricity goes away....beat that my coldplay concert was a click away ..the the MSEB couldn't bear that....damn them....
being a music lover i do feel hurt when such things happen to me...
anyway i'll tell something about F1 too, abhi will probably be happy to see F1 flash on the blog but the news following is anything but happy...i will be missin the 2006 INDIANAPOLIS grandprix....because it's on 2nd july and i ahve to be here by last week of june, when college re-opens.but i sincerely hope abhi gets to go for the malaysian grand prix..
oh did i forget to mention that i missed the micheal learnd to rock concert too...nothing new by now...the only reason that no one..absolutely no one was interested to go for this one...i do not love MLTR..but they do have a few good tracks...anyway..
so the point unlike the (.) of the blog being that i am not going to miss the BRYAN ADAMS concert being held on 4th feb at MMRDA grounds in mumbai, come what may....and mj you gotta come with me as you have promised..otherwise!@#@
that's it for now...feel better now....
